Dirty chat ratings: how we scored five criteria and what each number means
A transparent breakdown of our dirty chat ratings. Five criteria, each scored independently, weighted into a single number. Here is the method, the reasoning, and where the product earned — and lost — points.

02The detail
How the five criteria turned into one number
A rating without a method is an opinion with a star on it. Here is how we built ours.
Our dirty chat ratings start with five criteria: conversation depth, tone control, privacy, free-tier value, and character variety. Each is scored on a five-point scale by the review team, independently of the others. The final rating is a weighted average — not a rounded-up guess designed to look good on a search result.
Conversation depth carries the highest weight because it is the reason people stay. A chatbot that replies fast but forgets your name after one session is a toy, not a product. Tone control and privacy carry equal weight because they are the two things that make an adult product usable in practice: you need to set the register you want, and you need to trust that nothing leaks.
Free-tier value and character variety carry the remaining weight. A generous free tier earns a high mark because it lets you make an informed decision. Variety matters because a roster of identical personalities with different faces is not variety — it is a skin pack.
What works well
- Each criterion scored independently before weighting
- Method published alongside the rating — not hidden
- Conversation depth weighted highest, reflecting real usage
- Privacy audit covers contact sync, social graph, and app footprint
- Character variety measured by personality range, not roster count alone
Worth knowing first
- Weighting reflects our priorities, which may differ from yours
- Every character reviewed is fictional AI, not a real person
- The rating reflects one review cycle — scores can change with updates
- Strictly 18+ with an age gate before any content loads

Characters that shaped the ratings
Each criterion was tested across multiple characters to ensure scores reflected the system, not one lucky thread.

Scored high on conversation depth — memory surfaced details from day one.

Scored high on tone control — shifted register three times in one session.

Scored high on personality range — a voice unlike any other on the roster.
04In practice
What each score means in practice
A 4.8 on conversation depth means the chatbot referenced details from earlier sessions, unprompted, in a way that felt contextual rather than mechanical. A 4.4 on free-tier value means the free experience is real but ends sooner than we would like — enough to decide, not enough to settle in.
A 4.9 on privacy means no contact import, no social graph, no app icon, and no trace in a purchase history. That score is the highest we have given in this category, and it reflects an architectural choice, not a marketing claim.
